Asian grocery stores and supermarkets stock ingredients, snacks and household goods that general American supermarkets often do not carry, organized by category rather than by country of origin in most stores. Produce and live or fresh seafood sections are usually at the back or side of the store, and weekend mornings bring the largest crowds and freshest restock. Many larger Asian supermarkets include a hot deli or food court counter selling prepared meals by the pound or as fixed plates, useful for a quick lunch while shopping. Labels are frequently bilingual or untranslated, so store staff can usually help locate a specific ingredient if you ask. Cash, cards and mobile pay are all commonly accepted at larger chains; smaller specialty shops may be cash-preferred.

Hours are published for 2 days a week. The most common schedule is 7 AMโ€“9 PM. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Chanatry's at (315) 724-4107; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. Its website is chanatrys.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

Customers rate it 4.5 out of 5 on Google across 1,414 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded chinese supermarkets in Utica.

Utica is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Utica is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

For the most part I love this store and go frequently. Today was my first time getting anything from their seafood department. I got three oysters to try as soon I got home and got them out to eat I noticed two cracked open. I taped them hard to see if they would close. Neither did, indicating they were dead and unsafe to eat. The third one I cracked open and I found it to be quite dry. Its possible that it was safe and just didnโ€™t have much salt water in it but considering the first two were dead I figured it would be best to toss it as well. I did call management to inform them and they said they would immediately check the rest of them out. I would suggest taking caution with their seafood department. I used to shop at wegmans for my oysters before moving to Utica and never had issues. Hopefully this was just a one off thing. Overall not a bad store and I can say they have a great meat department that I do purchase from frequently! Staff is always great as wellโ™ฅ๏ธ

Chanatryโ€™s is an amazing and authentic New York style grocery store. So many selections of things you canโ€™t get elsewhere and great service. Iโ€™m so glad there are still places like this instead of all the big box stores that are everywhere these daysโ€ฆI highly recommend!!!

Excellent family owned and operated grocery store, carrying a variety of grocery items, excellent meats, hot food to go, and a fish department! It's a small store with the best customer service team in the area. Their produce is always nice, and their bakery has store baked breads and baked goods.

Chanatryโ€™s is the place to go for meat. They also have a great selection of local foods. However, the pricing on donate and stickers does not always match what comes up at the register. These tomatoes are the only ones in front of this sign, but they rang up a different price. I showed the cashier the photo, but she wouldnโ€™t honor the price.

Today was my first experience at Chanatry's, and it was great. Being here on a business trip & tired of eating out, I decided to make use of the kitchen in our hotel suite. I Googled meat markets near me, and Chanatry's was one that popped up. Upon pulling in, I was a little shocked because I thought it would be a small meat market, but I quickly realized it was also a marketplace. I'm extremely impressed with the quality of service in the meat department. I grabbed a small pack of pork ribs in the self-serve meat counter and asked the meat department if they could slice the ribs for me (my hotel knives are no good for cutting meat). The young man at the meat counter was so friendly and sliced the ribs perfectly. I needed a few chicken legs, and so I asked for 6, and he packed them up nicely for me. I was able to get everything I needed from Chanatry's, and the price was less than I expected to spend! How awesome! I highly recommend Chanatry's. The meat was so clean and fresh!
